Microsoft's 2027 fiscal year (FY27) began on 1 July 2026, and with-it Microsoft announced the evolution of Azure Accelerate into Frontier Accelerate for Azure as part of its broader FY27 AI transformation strategy.
Rather than operating as a standalone Azure acceleration programme, Azure now sits within Frontier Accelerate, Microsoft's unified framework for helping organisations move from AI ambition to business impact through trusted expertise, investment, and skilling.
This update gives organisations access to funding of up to $150,000 (€134,100) for qualifying database projects and up to $131,250 (€117,300) for AI initiatives. *
The programme supports a broad range of Azure projects, including migration, modernisation, security, data platforms, VMware, Azure Virtual Desktop, and AI workloads, helping organisations move from planning through to implementation.
A more unified funding framework
Historically, Microsoft Azure funding was delivered through several separate programmes aligned to individual workloads. Frontier Accelerate for Azure brings these funding streams together under a single programme, making it easier for organisations to access funding while aligning projects to Microsoft's strategic Azure priorities.
This streamlined approach gives organisations a clearer path to funding across multiple Azure scenarios through a single framework.
Enhanced investment in database modernisation
One of the most significant developments in FY27 is Microsoft's increased investment in database migration and modernisation projects, with funding of up to $150,000 (€134,100)* available for a single qualifying database project.
Importantly, funding is not limited to Microsoft databases. Organisations running non-Microsoft database platforms may also be eligible for migration funding when moving workloads to Azure.
Funding across assessments, PoVs and deployments
A key advantage of the programme is that funding is available across multiple phases of the project lifecycle.
- Pre-sales funding: Up to $25,000 (€22,350)* for assessments, workshops, and Proof of Value (PoV) engagements.
- Post-sales funding: Up to $150,000 (€134,100)* for qualifying deployment projects across database, AI, migration, modernisation, and virtual desktop workloads.
Funding levels vary based on workload, project size, and eligibility criteria.
Flexible funding based on business size
Frontier Accelerate for Azure includes five funding tiers, allowing funding levels to be aligned to the size and complexity of each project. This helps organisations understand the level of support available before planning and budgeting begin. Spanish Point can help assess your requirements, identify the most appropriate funding tier, and manage the application process on your behalf.
